Kim and Brian come to visit!!!

Brian, Kim, Sierra, Cody, and Erik came to visit!!!

So excited that the whole family came to visit!  Unfortunately I had to work on thursday when they arrived, but they stopped by after lunch to say hi!  I had been researching fun family (free) stuff to do while they were visiting so that night we headed down to Yorktown Beach (5 minutes from our place) for Shagging on the Beach.  Weird name but it is a free concert series that lasts all summer and into the fall where people come and picnic and hang out(n pictures of the actual concert).

One of the most exciting things for the kids seemed to be who got to ride in "Uncle Christopher's car" (my crv).  So Cody got to first...

And also took some pictures on my camera on the drive to the beach...

Good composition Cody!

Reading up on some history and maps...

these statues were welded so it looked like their faces were covered in acne scars.

we were the family that was climbing on the rocks...

and then found the sign saying keep off rocks... :)

run cody run!

for some reason there were a TON of jellyfish that were beached.  Sierra tried to save them... or in reality gave them a burial at sea.

random sand castle that Brian and Chris found very entertaining.

We stopped for a bite to eat...  not many pictures cause it started raining and the kids weren't feeling that well.

The next day we drove down to Virginia Beach.  Sunscreening up...  Kim brought this sunscreen that looked like a glue stick so I had Sierra model it :)

Day 2 Erik still wasn't feeling well... He said the bright sun was hurting his eyes.  Good thing Aunt Elyse brought her big floppy hat!  He was embarrassed to wear it, but i think it actually really helped.

not happy...

Chris stayed by Erik and our stuff while the rest of us went in the water.
sierra running away and towards the waves

kim and cody jumping the waves

sierra made the water seem like it was cold... it actually was really warm like bath water

Erik later exchanged the big hat and sunglasses for a towel and a nap in the beach chair.

Sierra made a very creative sand zoo using uncle chris's frisbee

after the beach we all decided to take georgia to her favorite place...
Sandy Bottom Nature Park (The Bark Park)...

I forgot to bring my camera in so this is the only picture I got...(note: chris is not really that white.)

lowlight of this dog park visit... kim stepped in dog poop

Day Three:  My coworkers has told me about a place near my work called "Fort Fun" so we decided to go check it out.

It actually was kind of cool.  It was a neat little park with a museum.  They had tons of canons and tanks for everyone to climb on!

self portraits!

the boys were in hog heaven playing on these and pretending to shoot bad guys

sierra told me she was going to sit on the nose... didn't think she would make it up that high... she sure did!

erik was king of the mountain!

the dare devil in action!  (this scared me a bit but she is definitely not afraid of heights!)

uncle steve came up for the day (Brian's lifelong friend from his seal days) who lives in Virginia Beach.  The kids loved playing with him!  So fun!

Fort Fun was right next to the James River which was nice to have the cool breeze on such a hot weekend.

whoa steve!  almost a little too high!!!

this picture is for Keith :)

RITAS!!!
I have been raving about this place called Rita's to everyone I talk to that is even considering visiting us.  I now know that it is an east coast thing but sooo yummy!  They have Ices (like an eegee and a snowcone combined).  Super yummy.  I didn't get any pictures of actually eating them... but the kids were acting cute so I had to take some pictures...

Our plans of mini golf got derailed by rain so we ended up heading back to the apartment for a bit...

Kinect time!!!
I'm suprised that we didn't get a noise complaint.  :) or that the floor didnt cave in! :)

Uncle Steve!

kim and brian doing the hurdles i think...

waiting patiently for his turn

Georgia gets too excited when people are playing kinect so her and I went to hang out in our bedroom for a bit to not interrupt the games and fun being had.  Eric decided to come... :)

and decided Georgia's bed was rather comfy :)

Georgia peeking in to see what he is doing

silly boy

Boxing

Don't really now how all this started...

this is them pretending... to eat dog bones.

We really had such a great time while they were in town.  Only wish we were in a house and not still in our apartment but there is always next time!  Georgia has turned into a very patient dog when it comes to the kids and turns out Higgins was a kid favorite (you always want what you don't have and they no longer have their kitty Sedona (kitty heaven)).  It really is nice having family around and it really makes me miss being within driving distance.  Thanks Brian and Kim for making the effort to come stay with us!

We love you guys!
