Mid Month Milestone

I kept saying he just wasn't going to do it. He had no interest...

Well guess who crawled today for the first time!!!

I kept thinking he was going to go straight to walking... But I guess he must have changed his mind!

When I went to pick him up from school today - one of his teachers - Ms. Kristen caught me before Bennett saw me - and whispered that he was about to crawl - and for me to try to sneak in to see him before he noticed me. I peeked around the corner into his classroom for a few minutes. Since he didn't see me, I tried to open the door quietly before he noticed... Well - that's didn't work! He saw me right away!

His teachers had prepped him- helped him get into position and he took a few scoots!

My baby boy crawled!!

How could this make tears fill my eyes?! I can't imagine how proud parents must feel when their kids accomplish larger milestones - like graduating!

So then I asked...

"Honestly - was this his first time crawling?"

Ms. Joy asked me "do you really want to know the truth?"

This made me think... I wanted to know. Just because his first real crawl wasn't with me - doesn't make it any less special. His teachers love him and they are important to him. I'm sure that they cheered and clapped for him - that they were proud of him too!

Ms Joy confessed he had done it a few times earlier in the day. Some parents don't want to miss their milestones so teachers don't generally tell them if they miss "first" moments.

I thought it was very sweet they reenacted this moment for me - that if I didn't ask - I could have believed he did it for the first time for me.

This parenting thing is emotional stuff!

Also - yesterday when Chris got home, Bennett and I were playing with his toys on the floor.  Bennett looked over - saw Chris (recognized him) and said "da da". That was pretty cool. First purposeful name calling (is that what you would call it?).  When I put him to bed, and he wakes up I can hear him calling "momma" or "mom". It's pretty sweet.

Love this little boy with my WHOLE heart!
