Katie's Graduation from ICE

Recently, at the end of March, my sister graduated from her pastry chef program at ICE.  My parents were able to make it up for the actual celebration, but since it was on a wednesday I flew in right after work on thursday night.  My flight didn't get in until midnight but everyone stayed up to see me!

The next morning we all got up with plans of going to see the statue of liberty and ellis island.  I requested we stop by Pick-A-Bagel for breakfast.  Chris and I had gone the last time we were in town over New Years Eve and loved it!

My mom was such a cute tourist :)  thinking she recognized every store from a reality tv show...

The line to get to the boat for Ellis Island was about an hour long...  Lots of opportunities for pictures and self portraits!

This was a pretty impressive statue

Notice the guy in the water...

Finally got on the boat and Katie got a bit sea sick.  No seats left so we took a seat on the ground.

Not feeling well...

The view from the ground...

We decided to not get off the boat on the island with the Statue of Liberty on it.  The line to get off the boat was really long and it was closed so you couldn't walk up into it.  We decided to go straight to Ellis Island.

Our boat

Main building where people were processed when landing in america

They had large pictures hung all over of people who had passed through.

There was a point in time where Ellis Island was abandoned and a woman snuck in and took a ton of pictures.  These were amazing.

This was pretty cool...

They had a book of last names of people that came through Ellis Island.

I found RAFACZ!

Next day we went to Ground Zero to see the 911 Memorial.  Unfortunately it was raining...
and windy so all the water from the fountain was blowing out getting us even more drenched!

This tree was the only surviving tree from the scene of the towers.  It had amazing story and a ton of people were taking pictures with it!

My parents posing "look at the tree!"

Sisters!

The museum wasn't open yet so the little store at the end was super crowded.

Twisted steel

Some items found from a wallet.
Pretty amazing!

I really wanted to buy one of these.  Leaves from the different trees surrounding all the sites of 911.

We walked around the financial district (down where Cupcake works)

Subway shot

Lobster rolls for lunch!

Some flowers in Chelsea Market

Lunch/breakfast the next morning was amazing!

Bloody Marys all around!

Daughtes!

Ended the trip with some amazing ice cream from a place down the street from CupKatie's apartment

Smile Dad!

Good trip all around!  I missed being around my parents/family so much.  Can't wait til they all can come to visit me!  We have plenty of blankets, pillows, and beds now!!!

hint hint... come see me soon!
