This is amazing for this to happen because this humane society doesn't work like the ones i was used to. The rely mostly on foster parents to homes the dogs til the are adopted. They only (with some exceptions) take in dogs and cats that are on the kill list from the pound. To have a facility that they can house cats and have the dogs for the adoption events really helps. It really made me happy to see how far the Humane Society of Tom Green County (not the actor) has come in the months since I have been here and originally started volunteering.
They had at least 4 kitty rooms. All of them were decorated very cute and had lots of things for the cats to play with. This kitty was sitting in a boat!
You can see the boat a little better in the bottom picture.
This room had a staircase that went up with wall. very creative I would have to say. All the kitties looked really relaxed and happy.
They also had a lot of extra room for puppies to be displayed and other smaller dogs. Mostly the large dogs all the volunteers that constantly walk them and give them potty breaks outside.
these pups were in a pac-n-play... these puppies looked a lot like a litter that was abandoned outside the humane society a few months ago... i hope it wasn't from the same parents.
this is the other kitty room. this one is set up so that when the site is closed people can still see the kitties. Kind of like a pet store would normally do.
