Because of the snow storm we had a few weeks earlier, Bennett's surgery to have his tubes placed ended up being the morning of when Grandma Shirley flew into town.
Good for us - Bennett was in great spirits by the time her flight got into town later that day!
He immodestly took to her because she knew his favorite game - being chased!
Look at this face he is making as Grandma Shorley tried to help me take a birthday photo for my friend Melissa!
He was just all over the place! It is getting a lot harder for me to do those!
Not many photos were taken the first few days due to me having to work and not being home to take them - but quality Bennett, Grandma Shirley and Daddy time was had!
Meanwhile a few days later Mimi and Grandpa boarded a plane to come visit!
This is their airport selfie!
And in antisopation of Bennett's cake.. I had no idea what it was going to be like besides something to do with giraffes - since that's the only "theme" type thing I could think of for Bennett's party that he was into.
But she got some good Higgins cuddles before bed (he was in hog heaven to be getting so many cuddles!)
Next day Bennett and Grandpa hanging on the couch. He is wearing a onesie Mimi got him that says:
that awkward moment when your mom sniffs your butt in front of your friends
True story
The girls took a quick shopping trip to Target so the boys decided to go on a walk around the neighborhood (and I am very proud of them for documenting it!!! - I feel like I am always saying take (or send me) pictures so I can blog!
This is something we have been struggling with lately... But so many pictures from this visit consisted of Bennett slapping or hitting his Auntie Katie...
You can see the motion...
We started decorating and filled Bennett's crib with some birthday balloons!
Happy Birthday Party Day Bennett!!!
Bath Time with Mimi and Auntie Katie

We got Katie's cake out and ready for the party! Had to do a quick photo shoot before we ate it!
(Gabe, Vixkie, and Roman)
The amazing cake Auntie Katie made!
Boys putting toys together
Bennet and Gabe playing on his new pirate ship ride on toy.
Gabe taking it for a ride
Vickie and Bennett playing with his lawn mower :)
Sisters and the birthday boy!
Auntie Katie also made Bennett a smash cake - special with whipped cream so it wouldn't stain
He seemed very into it when the candle was lit...
And the for a moment...
Possibly...
Nope - didn't like it - too cold
Not happy!
Nope!!!
Not even with the girafe on his smash cake!
Tickled!
Grandma Shirley is always up for playing!
More Auntie cuddles
More Grandpa and Bennett selfies!
The next morning we had to drop Auntie Katie off at the train station - it's always sad when we have to say goodbye. My dad got on the train to make sure she got settled...
And to take one more selfie :)
Bennett and Mimi enjoying a nap
When we got back from dropping Katie off I decided to make one of Chris's new favorite breakfast meals and my dad was able to help document!
Proud of the end product!
So after getting him all clean for his party... And not thinking about how I was going to encourage him to get messy - he ended up with frosting hair gel :)
Cuddles with Grandpa - he liked his Mia mustache felt!
Overall we had such a great visit! I can't believe my baby boy is already ONE!!!
Thank you to everyone who wished him a happy birthday, sent him cards, presents, voicemails, texts or videos! You all made it such a special milestone!
